Academic Program
The SPI System Colleges Basic Education program ponders on the development of the child’s basic skills, personality and will, preparing him for the later experiences in life.
1. Pre-Elementary Level
- Level I Play and Learn Program– 2.5-3.5 years old
This level may consist of children who are beginning to learn and understand simple things at home and in schooling. This particular level emphasizes “growing” and “developing” rather than “knowing” Learning experiences are given through non-threatening activities which focuses on developing social skills, group and cooperative learning
- Level II Discovery and Awareness Program 3.6 -4.9
This level consists of children with or without previous schooling. Children with previous schooling are separated from the class of children without previous schooling. This particular level emphasizes “growing” and “developing” and a bit of “knowing” through exploring the immediate environment. Developing good learning behavior in the highlight of this program.
- Level III Advanced Preparatory 5-7
In this level, children are directly prepared to read and write, and are able to count and do simple mathematical operations. In this particular level, the children are directly prepared for the next level (elementary level) by teaching them the different learning skills needed as they move into the new and bigger world
2. Elementary
- Apprenticeship Program : Grades 1-6
The child’s growth in this level continues for a long period along the same lines, preserving the same type of mind, and the same group of psychological characteristics. This period is characterized by great strength and forcefulness of the body and mind. Children at this stage seek one another’s company and form themselves into gangs of all kinds. Mentally, this level is characterized by great strengthening of the reasoning power. This is when children tend to be morally conscious, always trying to examine the rightness and wrongness of actions.
3. High School
- Discovering Full Potentials Program : First Year-Fourth Year
The realization of the SPI System Colleges’ mission to provide proper skills and functional knowledge to its students is being carried out in the Secondary Level, the stage of transformation. This level improves the personality of the individual so that by the time he enters the adulthood, he is confident of himself and his capabilities. This is the level wherein the need to plan and develop economic independence and the capability to do creative work are manifested. Programs in these levels do not only provide academic preparation for college but also special training skills in business occupations, leadership and citizenship that will make financially capable individuals. |
